🤬 Petals & Profanity: Coloring Books That Swear (Beautifully)

Two spiral-bound coloring books with floral and butterfly covers, Petals and Profanity, Cheryl's Treasure Chest branded graphic

There's a special kind of tired that only a grown-up coloring book can fix. Not the "I need a nap" tired. The "my brain has seventeen tabs open and every single one of them is yelling" tired. You know the one.

That's the tired these two books were made for. And the title alone tells you everything you need to know: Petals & Profanity. Pretty flowers. Potty mouth. Finally, a coloring book with the same range I have.

Okay, I Found Another Little Treasure…

It's a set of two spiral-bound coloring books, and they are not playing around with the pretty. The first one is the Petal Book — intricate floral designs, big bold blooms, leaves for days, all done in this retro folk-art style that looks like it walked straight out of a vintage tea towel.

The second one is the Wander Book — woodland theme, animals, nature vibes, butterflies, the whole little forest situation. Same folk-art look, same attitude.

And then there are the phrases. Oh, the phrases. Funny, blunt, motivational in the way only a friend who loves you AND has no filter can be. The flowers say the quiet part out loud, and honestly? That's the whole appeal.

✨ What Makes This One Fun?

First, the contrast. That's the joke and it's a good one. You open the book expecting sweet little flowers and then the page hits you with a phrase that makes you snort-laugh in a waiting room. Pretty on the outside, unhinged on the inside. It's coloring-book whiplash and I am here for it.

Second, the size is actually right for real life. Each book is 8.3 by 7.08 inches — big enough to actually color in, small enough to toss in a bag. Thirty-two pages each, so sixty-four pages total of flowers and feelings.

And third, the spiral binding. This matters more than it sounds. A spiral-bound book lays FLAT. No wrestling the spine, no pages springing shut mid-flower, no broken crayons from holding the book open with one hand. You just open it, it stays open, and you color. Whoever designed that understood the assignment.

And fourth, it's funny in a way that doesn't try too hard. The phrases aren't random swear words slapped on flowers — they're the kind of things you'd actually say out loud to your best friend on a bad day, then laugh about. That's why it works as a gift: it feels like somebody gets you, not like somebody bought you a gag.

🌻 A Few Things I'd Want You to Know

These are adult coloring books in the real sense — not because the pictures are hard, but because the humor is grown. The phrases are profane. That's the product, that's the point, and that's why you check the vibe before you gift them to your sweet aunt who still says "heck."

The paper is matte, which is good news for colored pencils and gel pens — no weird shine fighting your colors. And the retro folk-art style means the designs are bold and chunky, not those hairline-thin patterns that make your eyes cross by page three.

One honest note: these are coloring BOOKS, not a coloring kit. No pencils or markers in the box. If you're gifting them, pair them with a decent set of colored pencils and you've got a whole gift instead of half of one.

💡 Where I'd Put It

On the coffee table, obviously — open to a half-finished flower, pencils scattered around it, looking like somebody interesting lives here.

But the real move is the gift angle. This is a best-friend gift, a coworker-who-gets-it gift, a "you survived this week" gift. The kind of thing you hand somebody with zero explanation and they just start laughing. Pair it with pencils, tie a ribbon around it, done.

And keep one in the car. Seriously. Doctor's office waits, school pickup lines, any place you're stuck sitting — a little book and a few pencils turn dead time into the best part of the day.

❤️ Cheryl's Treasure Chest Verdict

This one is pure Cheryl bait: pretty things with a dirty mouth. It's not trying to be deep or healing or transformative — it's trying to make you laugh while you color a flower, and it succeeds. The spiral binding alone puts it above half the coloring books out there, and the humor puts it above the rest.

It's a Gift Find through and through: funny, pretty, affordable, and the kind of thing you buy twice — once for you, once for the friend who needs it more.

Until next time, Happy Treasure Hunting.
